Advisors MIA!

The participant, a second-year PhD candidate, shared a challenging experience of losing both supervisors in 2025. They felt unsupported, fearful, and unstable, especially with little notice and changing university contracts. Despite this, they sought support from peers, stayed hopeful, and developed resilience and communication skills. They rated the distress level as 7 out of 10 (with 10 being the highest), feeling their PhD was at risk. The experience fostered growth in adaptability and confidence, which helped in their ongoing journey.
